Our Story

We love rice! Always have. It’s a staple in our diets and is an integral part of many food cultures. It’s a dish that is enjoyed in millions of homes all over the world and it reminds us not only of home, but of family and friends as well. Sharing a meal together allows us to reconnect and take the time to enjoy life. Rice is so much more than just food.

It all started in 2011 in New Zealand when a Masters Student at the University of Otago published a paper about the effects of adding pulses, nuts and seeds to plain rice. The research showed that a rice blend could lower the glycemic load significantly, thereby making this mix of rice safer to eat. It’s a clever way to reduce the GI by using all natural alternatives to the rice. Fast forward through 5 years of trials, development and tasting, and Rice With Love was born.
